The library works by scanning for a text pattern and replacing it with an inline image/icon.

By default, the Horus Emoticons library comes hardcoded with 17 emoticons, all hosted via the 4redpixels.com website. It is probably a good idea to alter this and host the icons in a more secure and stable location (like your own server).

Also, the library can also be extended with new emoticons replacement patterns. Just take a look at the code and add your own.

Horus Emoticons can work with or without jQuery loaded on the page.
